Kid-Friendly Rumballs Recipe

I’ve always called these yummy little treats ‘rum balls’ even though I’ve never actually made them with rum! They’re are definitely kid-friendly (as there’s no rum in sight)… but trust me, they’re just as adult-friendly too.

When I was little I used to help my mum make these rumballs and I had three very important jobs:

Stir the mixture;
Roll the mixture into little balls, and;
Lick the spoon – of course!

If you’ve got little kiddies who love to help out in the kitchen, then this is the recipe for you. Rumballs have only 4 ingredients – crushed biscuits, condensed milk, coconut and cocoa and they’re so simple! They really are the perfect treat to whip up for a kids birthday party, a fete, picnic or just a yummy after school snack.

So let’s get started…

To make the rumballs you need to crush a 250g packet of plain biscuits (I like to use Marie biscuits). You can use a food processor or Thermomix to crush the biscuits, or you can go old-school (like my mum does) and use a good old rolling pin!
Place the crushed biscuits into a large bowl and add 1 X 395g tin of sweetened condensed milk, ¼ cup of cocoa and 1 cup of coconut. Mix until well combined.
Roll heaped teaspoons of the mixture into balls and then coat in an extra 1 cup of coconut.
Pop into the fridge to set.

This recipe makes approximately 36 balls.
